Cersaie tecnargilla 2018

The last week of September you could visit two of the most exciting Ceramic exhibitions in the world. This year, we visited both Cersaie and Tecnargilla and we could appreciate some interesting trends in the clay and the decorative tile market.

TECNARGILLA – INDUSTRY 4.0

The halls in TECNARGILLA were impressive this edition. We could see big booths where companies showed their latest creations, demonstrating that Industry 4.0 has arrived and it will stay here with us for long.

My main impression when visiting this exhibition is related to size. Every manufacturer wants to show that they are ready to enter the new era, where remote control, huge sizes and extremely high resolutions allow ceramic manufacturers to reach “virtual reality”,

Digital is everywhere in the new production lines, but especially in the decoration stage, where the most innovative state-of-the-art technology is applied. Almost every equipment manufacturer has its own technology, being able to mimic natural surfaces with a high resolution, as high as 777 dpi. Really amazing!

When it comes to raw materials processing, the new technology showed in this expo permits having new processes that will save a lot of energy and water in the clay preparation stage. In these processes, right raw material selection and the use of the best additives will allow full optimization and maximize the outcome of the plants. Simply clever.

CERSAIE – NEW WAYS TO USE TILES

In other words, tiles everywhere. It was shown how tiles will be able to cover any surface, with a big aesthetical improvement and in a very technical way. It means that restrictions with curves, complex shapes, etc. will disappear and imagination will have a clear path for creating new ways to use ceramics everywhere.

An example of this was how ceramic tiles are used in kitchen environments. Tiles are used as countertops without limits and they can be designed or requested with any color, size and thickness.

We also saw some very interesting surfaces. Curved tiles have appeared, both concave and convex, opening a chance for an infinity of decorative possibilities like the ones we show below.

We were, as usual, amazed by how imaginative and creative people can get when they are given the right tools to work with. Where you able to attend these exhibitions this year? We would love to know your opinion, so please feel free to tell us what was your impression when visiting these events.
